  We visited during a period of drought and it was pretty much impossible to reach on foot because of mud. The path that runs along Holmes Creek will lead you to the outflow creek from the spring, but you cannot walk up the creek because it's a muddy bottom and you sink in about a foot. You also cannot walk along the bank of the creek because it's also muddy and you sink in, and it takes you up to a low-laying bog that's muddy. There is either a second trail (not mentioned on any website), or you need waders to get to the spring head.
